(Narrator) Of all the drills conducted aboard the Mohawk, General Quarters is the most serious. Also known as Battle Stations, General Quarters is the ship's highest state of readiness. Throughout the ship, the crew gets ready for combat. Helmets and fire protection are put on while every battle station is manned.
(Narrator) Lookouts scan the horizon for other ships as the Mohawk prepares to test its defensive weapons.
(NATURAL SOUND)
(Crew) Bridge, this is SRBOC. Tube six is loaded.
(Narrator) The Mohawk is equipped with a defensive device call SRBOC [sar-bahk] which scatters chaff into the air away from the ship. In the event of a missile attack, the chaff is designed to divert the missile away from the ship.
(NATURAL SOUND)

(Narrator) 50 caliber machine guns mounted on each side of the Mohawk are used in combat and law enforcement activities.
(Rice) It's been a busy day. We did a boarding, today. We fired our SRBOC and 50 caliber gun. Tomorrow, we get our helo.
