(Narrator) Fire and rescue teams prepare for the worst possible scenario. Flight crew members wear color-coded gear that identify their particular responsibilities.
(Narrator) The flight deck is combed for debris that could become airborne when subjected to the tremendous force created by the helicopter props.
(Narrator) A life boat is put on the rail in case of a water rescue.
(Narrator) And, finally, the talon grid is uncovered.
(Crew) This is what we call a talon grid or a honeycomb. This is used for helo operations. It is centered in the middle of the flight deck. When the helo comes down to land, there is an arm that comes from underneath the helo that actually grabs onto these circles which secures the helo to the deck.
